BY THE FORCE OF THE SEA

Cambrils is one of the best-known towns on the Costa Dorada. A seaside town with a wide cultural, gastronomic, sporting and nautical offer that makes it a prime tourist destination. It is much more than sun and beach.
It is located in the heart of the Costa Dorada, so it is close to other points of interest such as Reus, Tarragona, Salou, Port Aventura, the Cistercian Route, Priorat, the Ebro Delta, etc.
The first thing you will discover in Cambrils is the port and the seafront promenade, enough to make you fall in love with its scent, light and color. Fishing boats, white seagulls, the blue of the Mediterranean and life — a promenade full of life. The surrounding pedestrian streets are filled with shops, ice cream parlors, bars and restaurants, one of the busiest areas, especially during the summer season.
From the defensive tower, dating back to the 17th century, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the port. Along the promenade you will find the Pla de les Sirenes, a sculpture that pays tribute to the town’s maritime tradition. A recommendation: do not leave the seafront without witnessing the arrival of the fishing boats; in the afternoon they enter the port loaded with the day’s catch and the auction takes place, a tradition full of history. Another place to visit is the Red Lighthouse, located on the western pier of the port; it is considered one of the city’s landmarks along with the Round Pine, the Ribera Wharf, the Esquirol Tower, the Hermitage Tower and the Port Tower.
Another of Cambrils’ most famous features are its beaches; it has 10, many of them awarded Blue Flags.
Perhaps the least known part is the old town, known as “la vila”; this area was protected by a wall and was where the first inhabitants settled during the Middle Ages. Worth noting is Spain Square, a charming square surrounded by narrow streets where balconies and flowers take center stage.
Another strong point is its gastronomy; the quality of local produce combined with the expertise of its restaurants has placed Cambrils on the gastronomic map. It is worth mentioning that 2 restaurants in this municipality have even been awarded Michelin stars.
“Oh my voice adorned with the seafarer’s insignia: upon the heart an anchor, upon the anchor a star, upon the star the wind, and upon the wind the sail!” – Rafael Alberti
