A WALK THROUGH HISTORY – MONT-ROIG DEL CAMP

Mont-Roig del Camp is the municipality to which the campsite belongs. It is a place with a privileged location, between the Colldejou mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea, meaning it is divided into two areas: inland, where the old town is located, and Miami Playa, the coastal area.

Perhaps the inland village is the least known, which makes it even more interesting.

The economic engine of this locality is agriculture, highlighting olive cultivation—especially the D.O.P. Siurana oil, which is the main product—without forgetting almonds, carob trees, vegetables, and other crops.

Mont-Roig was a medieval town protected by walls and crowned by a castle, and it even had a Jewish quarter. All it takes is a walk through its streets to travel back in time and soak in its history—stories told by its gateways, such as “El Portal d’Avall,” the main entrance to the town, and “El Portal del Canal,” accompanied by a 16-meter tower. Other key cultural landmarks include the Hermitage of Mare de Déu de la Roca, the Old Church, the Hermitage of Peiró, the New Church of Saint Michael, the Dry Stone Huts, and the Solé Oil Museum.

What are you waiting for to live your own story through the streets of Mont-Roig?
